A Star Volunteer:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul harnesses the power of community and partnerships to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in our community who are needy and suffering. Our members – known as Vincentians – are led by our Catholic faith to serve those neighbors. For many years the SVdP conference at Resurrection has been blessed with young volunteers, who enrich our activities with their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives. Claire Chapelle has been an integral part of our Saturday grocery distribution program for over two years; leading the produce sorting and bagging efforts. She has also served the parish in other ways. Claire graduates this week from Fremont High and will major in neurobiology at UC San Diego in the fall. It is with a mix of pride, excitement, and a little heartache that we will say farewell to her this summer.

Who We Are: Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (known as “Vincentians”) are men and women who together strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to neighbors in need. We invite you to stop by the front of the church on any Saturday morning between 8 and 8:45 to see what we do, and ask a question or two.
Neighbor-to-Neighbor Assistance:
We wish to thank all of the parishioners who generously give to our SVdP conference. Your donations make it possible for us to help many needy families during these difficult economic times. In June, we helped twenty-four families with assistance including $2,872 in grocery gift cards and food, $2,356 in rent, $150 in transportation expenses, $2,400 in assistance to other conferences, $605 in miscellaneous expenses, and sixty bags of groceries from our pantry.
Remember us when you shop for groceries: Please help us re-stock our pantry for coming weeks. We need nonperishable items like peanut butter, pasta sauce, pasta, cereal, small bags of rice, canned fish, mac & cheese, canned beans, canned meat, canned soup, canned fruit, canned vegetables, and meals-in-a-can. Donations can be placed in the designated baskets near the Church entrances, or in the donation barrel behind the glass counter near the men’s room. God bless you!
A neighbor in need? Do you know someone living within our parish boundaries who has suffered a financial setback and needs help? Ask them to call the above helpline number. If they are reluctant to call, ask them if they would give permission for one of our Vincentians to call them. You can then contact any SVdP member whom you know, or leave a message on the helpline, giving the needy person’s name and phone number.
