A Star Volunteer
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul harnesses the power of community and partnerships to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in our community who are needy and suffering. Our members – known as Vincentians – are led by our Catholic faith to serve those neighbors. For many years the SVdP conference at Resurrection has been blessed with young volunteers, who enrich our activities with their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives. Claire Chapelle has been an integral part of our Saturday grocery distribution program for over two years; leading the produce sorting and bagging efforts. She has also served the parish in other ways. Claire graduates this week from Fremont High and will major in neurobiology at UC San Diego in the fall. It is with a mix of pride, excitement, and a little heartache that we will say farewell to her this summer.

Who We Are: Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (known as “Vincentians”) are men and women who together strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to neighbors in need. We invite you to stop by the front of the church on any Saturday morning between 8 and 8:45 to see what we do, and ask a question or two.

We wish to thank all of the parishioners who generously give to our SVdP conference. Your donations make it possible for us to help many needy families during these difficult economic times. In May, we helped twenty-one families with assistance including $1,980 in grocery gift cards and food, $762.45 in housing costs, $800 in utility payments, $600 in assistance to other conferences, and seventy-two bags of groceries from our pantry.

Help with fresh produce? Would you like to help needy families by occasionally buying specific fresh produce items (e.g. 28 bananas) and delivering them to the Church on Saturday morning at 8 am? Or you could buy the items on Friday, and we could pick them up from your location that same day. There is a spreadsheet for signups. To learn more, please leave a voicemail on the above helpline number stating your interest and your contact information.

St. Vincent de Paul - Vehicle Donation Program

Cars with dents can help pay rents: When you donate your used vehicle to the donation program of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, your contribution benefits someone in our local community. Donated vehicles are picked up within a few business days, and documentation useful for tax purposes is complied and sent to you. Call 1-800-322-8284 or go to svdp.org (click on "Give Now") to learn just how easy it is to donate an old vehicle and help needy families in the process.
